Zero tolerance
Child Safety Standards
Alter prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation everywhere on the service. Dating is 18+ and may not be used by or to contact minors.
1. Prohibited conduct and content
Alter prohibits child sexual abuse material; sexualization or exploitation of minors; grooming; sextortion; trafficking; requests for sexual images or contact involving a minor; age-roleplay intended to sexualize minors; attempts to move a minor to another service; and links, instructions, or coded language that facilitate such abuse.
This prohibition applies to public and private content, including usernames, profiles, prompts, images, messages, reports, and off-platform activity that creates a credible risk on Alter.
2. Prevention and product safeguards
- Dating requires an 18+ account, immutable account birth date, and applicable age assurance before discoverability.
- Profile photos must pass safety screening before publication.
- Chat-photo uploads remain globally disabled until the required qualified hash-matching connector, reporting process, safety contact, and provider-readiness checks pass.
- When enabled, chat photos are file-validated and scanned by safety services. Rejected media is revoked and replaced with a removal notice.
- Report and block controls are available without payment, and relevant safety access is audited.
3. Reports and response
Members can use in-app report controls on a profile, photo, match, or message, or email our designated child-safety contact. Reports should identify the account or item and explain the concern without attaching or forwarding unlawful imagery.
Alter may immediately remove access, revoke media, block communication, preserve limited evidence, suspend accounts, and escalate for trained review. Alter will make reports to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children or other competent authorities when applicable and legally required, and will comply with lawful preservation and disclosure requests.
We review these standards, provider readiness, moderation access, escalation paths, and contact coverage before activating Dating or photo messaging.
