Respect and safety
Community Standards
Alter is built for thoughtful play, self-reflection, and respectful connection. These standards apply to profiles, prompts, photos, messages, names, reports, and every other user contribution.
1. Be genuine and respect consent
- Use your own identity and current images. Do not impersonate, catfish, or misrepresent affiliation, age, location, intent, or relationship status.
- Respect “no,” passes, blocks, unmatches, and silence. Do not evade a block or repeatedly contact someone through another account.
- Do not publish another person's private, identifying, financial, medical, or intimate information without permission.
2. Prohibited harm
Alter prohibits credible threats, stalking, harassment, bullying, blackmail, extortion, encouragement of self-harm, glorification of violence, hate or dehumanization based on protected characteristics, human trafficking, sexual coercion, non-consensual intimate imagery, scams, fraud, malware, and illegal goods or services.
Child sexual abuse and exploitation, child sexual abuse material, grooming, sexualization of minors, or attempts to arrange sexual contact with minors are prohibited. Review the dedicated Child Safety Standards.
3. Sexual and commercial content
Do not upload explicit sexual content, pornography, sexual services, solicitation, compensated dating, “sugar” arrangements, or content intended primarily to drive members to paid adult platforms. Nudity and sexually explicit imagery are not allowed in profiles or messages.
Do not use Alter for spam, mass outreach, affiliate links, fundraising, political campaigning, recruiting, research, advertising, or lead generation without written authorization.
4. Reporting and enforcement
Use the visible report and block controls in Dating when available, or contact support. Report honestly and include only information needed to understand the concern. Do not weaponize reports against someone for rejecting or disagreeing with you.
Possible actions include a warning, content removal, feature restriction, geographic or discovery pause, age-assurance retry, suspension, account closure, evidence preservation, provider notice, or a legally required report. Severity, context, history, and imminent risk affect the response.
Eligible moderation decisions may be appealed. A different authorized reviewer should assess the available evidence when practical.
